An Inside Look at Yeti Academy’s Coding Curriculum

Yeti Academy uses a unique gamified approach to teach coding skills. With Yeti Code, we have both single-player and multiplayer games to help students develop their skills and motivate each other to learn. Students love our fun, interactive Yeti snow mountain environment!

Yeti Academy’s coding games and learning modules can easily be adapted for an in-person, remote, or hybrid learning environment. Students don’t need to be side by side to play multiplayer coding games. You can use our online platform wherever the internet is available and add it into your elementary and middle school STEM curriculum.

The Student Coding Experience

In Yeti Code, students learn through engaging games and activities that teach them to think like a web developer or programmer. Initially, they play in a fun single-player environment. The independent, gamified learning experience helps them develop the foundational skills they’ll need to take on more advanced coding projects.

Beginners start out using a code palette as they get familiar with the basic concepts of code. As students become more advanced, we hide the code palette. The games teach students to memorize code language and eventually to write their own code.

Students who have mastered the basics of code can play in multiplayer coding competitions.  In multiplayer games, the most accurate and efficient coder wins! Students who have a competitive streak love this feature. Many students are even more motivated to get better and practice their skills.

There are two distinct Yeti Code curriculums for beginning and advanced coders:

Yeti Code Level 1

Yeti Code Level 1 is designed for students in grades 2-4 with little to no coding experience. Students advance at their own pace as they develop basic coding skills through games in a fun Yeti Mountain environment.

Yeti Code Level 2

Yeti Code Level 2 is our more advanced curriculum for students in grades 4-8. We’ve built in plenty of levels and learning opportunities. If teachers want to challenge their students even more, they can use our easy-to-use level builder to create new levels.

Yeti Code is a great way to get your students excited about coding! We are thrilled to offer this easy-to-teach coding program for elementary and middle school students.

Our coding program is at the frontier for teaching middle and elementary school kids to code. With Yeti Code, students will love learning to code, whether they are with their peers in a traditional classroom or learning from home.

Yeti Academy has two additional coding curriculums: Space Code Jr., a block-based curriculum for the youngest elementary students (grades K-2), and Mars Expedition, an HTML 5 coding course coming soon for grades 5+. Yeti Academy also offers a variety of online STEM courses for K-12 students, with a primary focus on elementary and middle school learners.
