3 STEM Activities for Middle School

STEM Activities

Finding middle school STEM activities that are easy to set up can be challenging, especially if you need the activities to be remote-friendly or substitute-friendly. At Yeti Academy, we offer a variety of STEM courses, modules, and activities to give students an exciting learning experience and make life easier for teachers.

Here are some of our favorite STEM activities for middle school:

Sports Med

Sports Med is a technology-based life science module designed for elective courses, after-school programs, career and technical education, and other settings. This themed module can be adapted to any classroom style.

In Sports Med, major concepts are connected to real-world topics and activities, especially topics related to sports medicine issues. We reinforce basic life science concepts and give students opportunities to learn about exciting STEM careers. Each lesson includes seven student modalities to help reinforce learning, including exploration opportunities for early finishers.

Theme Parks

Theme Parks is a hands-on digital literacy course that teaches students how to use Google Workspace tools effectively. This themed, technology-based curriculum covers Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawings, Maps, Sites, Chat, Meet, Calendar, folder and file management skills, digital citizenship, and more.

In Theme Parks, students learn how to use digital tools as they work on projects for building their very own virtual theme park. They design logos, plan for site visits, create e-portfolios, and more. By the end of the course, students will be comfortable using advanced features on a wide range of tools – and have a fun portfolio to show for it.

Sports PR Agency

Sports PR Agency is a themed digital citizenship module with plenty of individual and collaborative projects to engage students. It uses problem-based activities to get students thinking about their own and others’ impact in digital spaces. The introductory videos for each section include real-world teens that your students can identify with and relate to.

In the Sports PR Agency course, students manage professional athlete characters and help them navigate their digital influence through a virtual PR agency. They are asked to consider etiquette and ethics in potential real-world scenarios.
