Sports PR Agency:
A Fun Way to Teach Digital Citizenship
Teach students about digital ethics, etiquette, and safety as they “work” in a virtual PR agency for athletes. Students help “clients” keep their personal information safe, act ethically, and use their online influence responsibly, all while learning about a wide range of digital influence topics.
In Yeti Academy’s Sports PR Agency module, middle school students develop real-world digital citizenship skills. We use individual projects, collaborative projects, problem-based activities, and introductory videos with real-world teens to help students practice thinking about digital influence topics and scenarios. This course also helps students develop competence in the “Four C’s” of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
Students get to express their creativity through artifact design, develop technical writing expertise, build presentation and public speaking skills, and analyze data using spreadsheets, charts, and graphs. At the end of the course, students build a website with elements of what they’ve learned.
Sports PR Agency covers public relations, digital influence, internet safety, internet privacy, cyber ethics, social media communication and identity, cyberbullying, online drama, media literacy and evaluating sources, health and balance surrounding digital use, computer threats, and more!
