I think it's time to let this one go as I haven't worn it for a good 20 years. It's a gorgeous statement piece and sure to draw attention as it graces your neck. I don't know what the type of closure is called, but it clasps the necklace very securely. I do not believe the stone to be genuine, but a CZ perhaps. The length is roughly 16 inches, so would be a collar necklace. I believe the gold portions of the necklace to be vermeil (gold over sterling) and not solid gold. There is no wear to the gold as this necklace was seldom worn. On my scale this weighs a whopping 105.9 grams or 3.74 ounces.
I believe this dates from the 1970's, possibly 60's. Definately vintage!!
Made by Unoaerre which is stamped, also stamped 925 and another hallmark which I cannot make out, most likely a star with 1AR.
